I was inspired to be a teacher during my Junior year in
Academy. I was shown what a tremendous influence
teachers can have over students and felt that the Lord
was calling me to do that. I am totally convinced that
SDA education makes a significant difference in the
lives of the children who are taught in this system. I
feel that by the time children reach 7th
grade, they are beginning to make decisions which will
affect them for the rest of their lives. One of my
objectives is to try to enable them to make good
decisions. These decisions come in all aspects of their
lives: Spiritually, Mentally and Physically. I feel that
God has had a hand in designing our schools to enable
these students to grow and make good choices. My desire
is to continue to teach and help young people reach
their potential as they move through the upper grades
here at SJA. |

I have a beautiful wife, Bonnie who works
part-time as an aide in grades 3-6 as well as having her
own massage therapy business and two sons. Both of my
boys attended SJA from K-10. My older son Nils is a
recent graduate of Pacific Union College in California
and will be married this coming April. My younger son
Lars is completing his Senior year at Upper Columbia
Academy and is headed for Walla Walla University this
fall. I am starting my 23rd year of teaching
at SJA this year. Before I came here, I had taught for
5 years at Anchorage Jr. Academy in Alaska, four years
at San Gabriel Academy Elementary in California and a
year at Laurelwood Academy in Oregon after graduating
from Pacific Union College in 1975 with B.A. degrees in
Theology and History. Since coming to SJA, I have taught
in grades 7-10. Classes that I have taught include 7th
and 8th grade Bible, English, Social Studies,
Reading, P.E., and 9th and 10th
Grade English, World History, Northwest History and P.E. |
