For me, Christian education is a way of life. Growing up with my father as a teacher, I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher and work with children. Having dynamic and inspirational teachers throughout my childhood only solidified this quest. Because of these people, I have a passion for teaching and who better to teach than children…who have that passion to learn!

Spiritual Philosophy
It is my purpose as a teacher to develop a spiritual connection with other teachers, the students and their parents.  It is my goal to provide an environment where a relationship with the Lord can blossom and flourish for myself and each of my students.

Teaching Philosophy
I believe that children learn best by “doing”.  Don’t just tell them about popcorn, let them experience the popcorn.  Let them examine the kernels; listen as you pop; smell the aromas; feel the texture; and taste the sweet saltiness of the popped corn.

I believe it’s essential for learning to be hands-on.  It’s my goal in the classroom to create an atmosphere of discovery where each child can explore, observe and investigate what is being taught.

My classroom activities focus on a central theme for an allotted time.  I believe that children are naturally curious.  Therefore, I let them experience what we’re learning in their math, science, reading, writing, art, etc.  In doing this, I hope to connect with and capitalize on each student’s individual way of learning.  It’s my goal to create a classroom that is “learner” centered—one that is inviting, stimulating and comfortable.

Classroom Management
It is my goal to teach responsibility by inviting students to make decisions about their learning and the learning environment.  It is my goal to teach them to be responsible and accountable for the decisions that they make.
